Warlock Ambushed In Ruins of Alterac

Hope you're ready for a dose of good old fashioned Backstabbing Tales of the Tarren Mill Rogue.

Human warlock level 32

Today I came across a human warlock killing ogres in the Ruins of Alterac near Tarren Mill. His name was Drenalen and he practiced Demonology. I couldn't wait to stick my daggers in his back.

I stealthed up close enough to observe him and noticed he had a summoned pet and despite my considerable patience, I was trying to finish a quest in the area and needed him to stay away from them Ogres. "Them there's my ogres" I thought to myself. Melisara in Tarren Mill had given me a quest, The Crown of Will, and I intended on completing it and being on my way back to Booty Bay for some relaxing fun for the weekend.

If I wanted to send a message to this human to stay away from this area, I needed to do it fast. So I waited for the perfect moment to ambush him, and I did so. I wiped Crippling poison on my main hand dagger, and positioned myself behind him. He went down very fast...

When he came back to his body to res, he quickly began casting his Felsteed mount. I knew he had gotten the message... but somehow, I couldn't resist one more sap. *sap* and then /poke

I backed up waiting to see his next move, letting him decide what his next few minutes would be like... running off into wind of the Ruins, or running back to his body once again. I could easily kill him again, or he could leave. He mounted and ran off. He got the message... stay away from the area.

It took me a fair amount of time to seek out and defeat the Ogres, but I tried to finish up the quest as fast as I could and began to make my way back to Tarren Mill. When low and behold... who do you think I come across yet again?

My good buddy Drenalen. I guess he had not learned the lesson I had taught him earlier. He was now too close to Tarren Mill. I have no mercy and no compassion.

I sapped him, then ambushed him as my crippling poison and deadly poison began entering his veins he could neither run nor defend himself successfully against the onslaught of dagger slices coming at him.

You can see Tarren Mill in the background as I stand over the human warlocks body once again. Knowing exactly why I chose this rogue life, and why I must continue to defend Tarren Mill and the surrounding area from the humans who constantly invade our areas and seek to eradicate our existence.

Arcane Draenei Mage vs Undead Rogue

Rogue: Level 29 Undead
Victim: Level 34 Arcane Draenei Mage

Her name Xoaqua, and I found her fishing along the shores of the river outside of Southshore, in Hillsbrad Foothills.

She was neither innocent, nor a weak victim. Her rank and status among the Alliance deemed her a worthy foe, and excellent victim to send a message to the scum allies attacking Tarren Mill.

As a rogue, I always take the time to observe my victims behaviors before attacking, getting to know their movements and patterns, waiting for the perfect moment to strike from the shadows.

Xoaqua was wearing enchanted armor, many pieces reinforced, and was no newcomer to powerful spells.

I crept up behind her slowly after finding the perfect moment to ambush her. I walked softly through the moist grass under the moonlight and slipped my Thornspikes out from the sheaths on my hips. As she stodd there looking into the water watching her fishing lure bobble, I ambushed her. Driving two daggers into her back. My ghostly strike gave me an increased speed as I began slicing her up.

As I expected, she was smart, and quickly cast her Frost Nova spell which locked me in place , frozen in ice. I could not move, but still managed to pull out my trusty throwing dagger and quickly tossed two into her stomach as I waited for the ice to break. She was running away, back to Southshore and was nearing range to call for guards. I anxiously sprint and as the ice broke I charged towards her. She had already begun casting Arcane Missiles my way, and I had a few options, but I needed to think fast hoping she didn't blink away again and get too far out of range.

Should I just Rupture her stomach open and let her bleed slowly in front of, or Eviscerate her and end this fight now? She dropped to her knees clutching her stomach, there was no way she could stop the bleeding

In her efforts to get away, she managed to call upon the Southshore guards. They attacked hard and fast, and I had to Vanish into the shadows.

As I stood there under the damp trees on the river bank, I felt no remorse for her, and no sympathy. This is war, this is revenge.

Master Fisherman

Despite my love for instances and group play in WoW, I also like fishing! And look what I earned today, Master Fisherman Achievement.

Fishing in World of Warcraft and especially Wrath of the Lich King, takes a lot of time, like many thing, but it can sure be fun and relaxing.

To get the "Master Fisherman" achievement, you must speak to Juno Dufrain in Zangarmarsh. He is located at the Cenarion Refuge in the Eastern part of Zangarmarsh. He is a fishing skill trainer who will take your skill level to master.

There are quite a few achievements associated with "fishing" in WoW. Early ones include catching 50 Fish, and some of the harder ones consist of catching certain named rare fish in opposing faction towns! All players can learn the fishing skill, but it seems to take a dedicated fisherman to complete them all.

Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy Jenkins

Last night a group of us went and did the famous Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy! Achievement. Here is a screenshot.

It's not too hard to do, but can be if not done correctly. You need to have someone run in and pull 50 Rookery Whelps and then kill them all in 15 seconds, so depending on the group this can either be easy or challenging. LOL

We let one of our members run in the room and pull all 50 Rookery Whelps, while the rest of us stayed waiting just outside the room. After pulling and aggroing 50 or more Whelps, he ran back to us as I casted heals on him to keep him alive, he ran towards us and we blasted them all down. Leroy Jenkins achievement complete.

Another fun night and I love my new "Jenkins" title!

I'm Holy, Not DPS

For some odd reason, I have been asked to DPS almost every night I have played over the past week or so. I can understand many may not know or understand the role of a holy priest as good as some do, but asking a Holy priest to DPS is not the best idea for a group.

Sure a Holy Priest can spam Smite and Holy Fire (10 second cooldown on this one) spells, but that does not make them the optimal choice for DPS. In fact, this is somewhat similar to asking a Shadow priest to heal! Shadow Priests focus on doing damage, not healing. As I mentioned, Holy Fire has a 10 second CD, so its not a great DPS spell to spam.

Holy Priests spec to heal, not do damage, and while spellpower effects both damage and healing power, a Holy priest is best allowed to do what they do best, and that is to heal.

Although, to take advantage of a group that's already formed, I have played the role of DPS for a few groups, but that's only because we had a very good group and my DPS was not really needed, as I was amongst friends. But when it comes to performing under harsh conditions and in time of need during a dungeon instance, a Holy priest is best left to heal, not do damage.

As many Holy Priests, I throw smites and Holy Fire at run away mobs and adds etc... but our main role should always be healing, not doing damage.

I have put every Talent Point I have thus far to better my heals, to heal more efficiently, even grabbing Lightwell, and Spirit of Redemption - I'm Holy, Not DPS.

While it may not be a difficult achievement to accomplish, it is one of my favorites!

Last night upon being summoned to run Blackfathom Deeps the group chat warned me there were "allis" at the stone, so I told them to summon me first so I could heal them through fight... they did.

Upon arriving I immediately began casting heals, it was 3 vs 3, we won.

Logged on to do a few battlegrounds and got this today on lvl 25 Holy priest. So much for just being a healer... well not really, because I don't cast any damage spells while in the battlegrounds, well not many. A couple here and there when no one is around to heal and alliance are running towards me, and of course Holy Nova, but I mostly focus on casting heals.

Anyway...

Anyone who complains about not getting honor as a "holy priest" in the battlegrounds, ain't being a healer! Get out there and heal, and you'll get plenty of honor and credit for kills! Healing in the BGs in WOW is fun. Yeah you gotta be quick on your toes, but you can really make a difference in the battle.

Resto Druid

I decided to create a new toon in World of Warcraft and chose Tauren Resto Druid as the class and race.

My wife is playing a Holy Priest and claims to really enjoy it. We both play horde only.

I will post more pics during the leveling process and talk about Resto Druid Healing macros and good dungeon instances to run and learn healing.

I have played a Holy Priest, a Rogue, both frost and fire mages, in the past, as my guild needed "healers" but I wanted to see how "restoration" went in regards to healing players during dungeon instances. I am also attracted to the idea of being able to wear leather armor, instead of just "cloth" as a mage.

Magister's Terrace

We are trying to get together and gear up for end-game raiding in World of Warcraft, so last night we continued plundering Magister's Terrace.

This screenshot shows our group of players just about to enter the room where Kael'Thas Sunstrider awaits.

Kael'Thas Sunstrider has some good drops for mages, and as usual, depending on your group this can be a quick and smooth run, or can be disastrous. We ran the dungeon instance fairly smoothly and came out with some great loot!

The Magister's Terrace dungeon instance has four bosses, Selin Fireheart, Vexallus, Priestess Delrissa, and finally Kael'Thas Sunstrider.

Sethekk Halls

Last night we did the Sethekk Halls instance, which is part of the Auchindoun dungeon. This group of instances are for level 65 and up, and include Mana Tombs, Auchenai Crypts. You can find this dungeon in Outland's Terokaar Forest.

Here is a screenshot of our group getting ready at the summoning stone at Auchindoun about to enter Sethekk Halls.

This can be a challenging instance or an easy one depending on your group, however crowd control is a must and having a good group is a must. Many of the fights include multiple mob pulls and can cause wipes. Watch out for the exploding ghosts! Some of the monsters in Sethekk Halls release a slow moving, but deadly ghost. You cannot kill them, just avoid them before they explode!

The final boss is Talon King Ikiss.

Black War Raptor

The Black War Raptor is a PVP mount, meaning it can only be obtained after taking part in the Battlegrounds available in World of Warcraft. The cost is 30 of the following marks of honor: Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, and Warsong Gulch.

Now that mounts no longer take up an item slot in your backpack or bank, I have started my pet and mount collection!

Here is a screenshot of me and my Black War Raptor sitting in Undercity, waiting to go fight the Headless Horseman.

Until recently, each mount you had would take up a slot in your backpack or bank, but now when you acquire a mount it is added to your mount collection and you can keep more to ride!

WOTLK Login Screen

it is time to say goodbye to the old WOW Login Screen. I know I will personally miss the old Dark Portal image Burning Crusade login screen. For historical purposes I have archived the login screen here.

Here is the screenshot of the new Wrath of the Lich King login screen that is quite different from the previous.

As someone who plays a Frost Mage, I anticipate the coming icy continent of Northrend, although I am certain the entire zone will not be "frozen." I like the blue and the "cold" tones used to portray the new lands and zones in the WOTLK expansion pack.

Players are preparing for the new level 70 to level 80 grind, and who will be the first to defeat the new dungeon bosses that await us in WOTLK?

All races and classes will see changes to their talent tree, and there could not be a better time to be playing WOW right now.

Pirate Costume

Harrrgghh! Last night I was out in the Shadowmoon Valley gathering some herbs for some potions. I got zapped by the "Pirate Costume" magic wand a group member was holding, and *poof* I became a pirate.

The Halloween stuff in World of Warcraft keeps it fun, during one of our favorite holidays, Hallow's End!

Headless Horseman

When I first started playing World of Warcraft, I saw people asking for player groups to form to do the "Headless Horseman" quest, and I wanted to take part in the quest so badly! But the Headless Horseman is a level 70 quest and I was not able to do it at the time. But this year, I can do it!

The Headless Horseman can be a tought fight, or an easy one, depending on the ability of the group of players. If your group can manage to outlive his waves of attacks and rejuvenation tactics, you will be able to defeat the Headless Horseman. You are only able to summon him once a day, and only during Hallow's End.

Magic Broom

We are still doing the Hallow's End quests right now and trying to get the Headless Horseman mount, but so far no luck on that one. I did get the magic broom last night, finally. And am now flying around in style on my own magic broom, these things are fast!

We are going to do the "Call the Headless Horseman" quest tonight and keep trying for the flying mount. Check back to see if we are lucky and get it! At least this will keep us bust for a few more days, while we wait for Wrath of the Lich King to come out!

Hallow's End 2008

Creating New Characters

Creating new charachters is easy in World of Warcraft and you may find you create a few before you fin the one you like to play most often. With the Burning Crusade expansion you can now be a Blood Elf. Simply choose the race and class, pick a name, and login to play. You can play as an Orc, Gnome, or a Night Elf, and even the Undead.
